2 years agoThe Oakland Athletics are hopeful that starting pitcher Frankie Montas (shoulder) will be able to rejoin the starting rotation during this coming weekend's series against the Houston Astros. Montas played long toss on Monday and he could wind up throwing a bullpen session Wednesday if he responds well to Monday's session. Montas is dealing with right shoulder inflammation. The issue arose after his start against the Seattle Mariners on July 3. He received a cortisone injection last week and seems to be trending in the right direction. The 29-year-old has been fantastic this year, pitching to a 3.26 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP across 17 starts.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
