Aroldis Chapman's Spring Training A Positive
7 years agoIn his Spring Training debut this year, New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman hit a batter, gave up a hit and also a run. It was his only run surrendered, as he made five additional appearances and was superb. He allowed just three more hits, tallying four in 4 1/3 innings, striking out 10 along the way. While it wasn’t the kind of spring he had last year, when he tossed seven perfect innings, it was another positive that shows he’s more than ready for the season to get underway. The 30-year-old wasn’t his usual self last season, eventually losing and then recapturing the closer role. His 3.22 ERA and 69 strikeouts were his worst in seven years, as he dealt with a shoulder injury. Regardless, he remains one of the league’s best closers and has been drafted as such.
