Aroldis Chapman To Serve Suspension For First Two Games
4 years agoNew York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman will serve a suspension for the first two games of the season, according to manager Aaron Boone. Chapman was originally handed a three-game suspension for throwing at the head of Rays infielder Mike Brosseau last September, but Chapman appealed the suspension and had it reduced to two games. Chapman will miss the first two games of the 2021 regular season as a result, and manager Aaron Boone was non-committal about Chapman's short-term replacement on Wednesday. Relief pitcher Chad Green seems like the most likely closer in Chapman's absence, but counting on any Yankees reliever for saves during the team's first two games is a risky decision.
