Aroldis Chapman Struggles Mightily Wednesday
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman imploded in Wednesday's loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Chapman entered the game in a non-save situation with a four-run lead but quickly got into trouble, surrendering three walks before allowing the game-tying grand slam. The spin rate on Chapman's fastball was down by about 100 RPMs once again and the hard-throwing lefty mentioned after the game that he feels he has had a hard time controlling the pitch. His 11:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 11.42 ERA from June support that sentiment, as he has suddenly become a shaky fantasy asset. With a strikeout rate over 40 percent and an expected wOBA below .300, there should be better days ahead for Chapman.
