Aroldis Chapman Shaky Again, Records Ninth Save
3 years agoNew York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman recorded his ninth save of the season despite surrendering three hits and an earned run while striking out one during a 5-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. In May, the seven-time All-Star has struggled, posting a 6.75 ERA, 2.25 WHIP, three walks, and nine hits with four strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings. Despite allowing runs in four straight games, the left-hander has yet to blow a save through nine chances. While Chapman doesn't appear to be in danger of losing his role as closer, it is worth noting the Cuban is boasting a 4.42 xERA, 25% K-rate, and 16.1% BB rate – all career-worsts – to start the 2022 campaign.
