Aroldis Chapman Picks Up 20th Save
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman recorded his 20th save of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Rays. Chapman needed just 14 pitches to navigate the ninth inning, inducing four whiffs, all of them on his fastball, which was clocked at his season average velocity. The veteran closer appears to be getting used to the post-sticky substance pitching environment, posting a 4.50 ERA in July after enduring a disastrous month of June. Chapman allows too many walks and barrels- which could lead to the occasional blowup performance- though he should remain a strong fantasy closer on a Yankee team competing for a playoff spot.
