Aroldis Chapman Likely To Return Friday
2 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) could be activated from the injured list on Thursday, but skipper Aaron Boone said he is "probably leaning more towards Friday" at the Cleveland Guardians. Chapman struck out two in a scoreless inning of work on Tuesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in what is expected to be his third and final minor league rehab outing. Clay Holmes has been lights-out in the closer role for the Yankees and deserves more save chances, but the Yankees also want Chapman to be in the mix in the ninth inning when he returns. The 34-year-old left-hander needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues, but he could be eased back into the role and may not see as many save chances the rest of the way if Holmes continues to dominate.
