Aroldis Chapman Allows Run, Still Earns Save
6 years agoAfter scoring four runs to take a 5-2 lead, the New York Yankees headed to the bottom of the ninth, summoning closer Aroldis Chapman to secure the final three outs. Heading into Wednesday’s game, the 30-year-old carried a streak of seven consecutive appearances without allowing a run, but it would be broken. Chapman surrendered a leadoff single to kick things off before securing two quick outs. The fourth batter of the inning, however, drilled a double, cutting New York’s lead to two runs. It would be Houston’s final hit, as Chapman recovered to secure the final out.
