Aroldis Chapman Aided By Defense In 16th Save
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman got into a bit of trouble but was bailed out by his defense in his 16th save of the season Sunday against the Oakland Athletics. Chapman walked the first two batters he faced on nine pitches, then induced a groundball, which the Yankee defense used to turn their third triple play of the season on. The veteran southpaw has a flair for the dramatic, as his last few save situations have been anything but smooth. Still, Chapman has shut the door on four straight games for New York, lowering his season ERA to 1.98. Even when he doesn't have his sharpest stuff, he remains a top-five fantasy closer.
