2 years agoAric Almirola is known for his strength on short flat tracks in NASCAR, finishing 13th or better in nine of his last 11 races at those tracks. His worst result over that time frame was 22nd, until Sunday when he finished 33rd. A broken wheel on Lap 138 caused the wheels to fall off (literally) early for Almirola in this race. He was able to finish, but this put a damper on a track that Almirola has found success at. It was Almirola's second finish in the 30s, and the disappointment of returning from retirement continues. Over the first four races of the season, Almirola has yet to find his way into the top 15 at the end of any race. After winning the second duel at Daytona, his stock was looking good, but now that has only gone downhill since. He will look to turn it around at Atlanta, a track he finished 22nd and eighth at in two races last season.--Eric DeWilde
