5 years agoThe Los Angeles Kings shocked the Vegas Golden Knights early and never looked back on Sunday night. The club scored the first three goals of the game en route to a 4-1 victory. Anze Kopitar scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season. He’s now scored at least 20 goals in three straight seasons. Overall, he has 59 points in 66 games. Alex Iafallo had a goal and an assist to give him 40 points on the year. He has eight points over his past 10 games. Drew Doughty added two helpers in the contest and now has 32 points on the season. Calvin Petersen was a rock in net. He stopped 42 of 43 shots, including five from Shea Theodore. The Vegas’ defenseman scored the only goal in the loss. He has five points in his last six games. The Kings managed just 17 shots on net but Marc-Andre Fleury stopped only 13 pucks. It was another uneven performance for the veteran netminder, who was coming off a 29-save shutout. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller

3 months agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar scored twice in their victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday evening. Kopitar tallied his first goal in the final minutes of the second frame on a backhand shot to beat goaltender Aleksei Kolosov. Later in the third period, Kopitar would extend the Los Angeles lead on a wrist shot. The veteran center is now riding a three-game point streak. During this span, he has posted two multi-point efforts. Since the start of December, Kopitar has been held off the scoresheet just once and has tallied eight total points across seven games. Overall, the 37-year-old has registered 37 points across 32 total games this season. Fantasy managers should continue to view him as a solid center option in standard formats as he continues to see heavy ice time on a nightly basis.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

5 months agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar produced a game-winning performance in Thursday's season opener against Buffalo, scoring all three goals in a 3-1 win. The Kings pulled off a third-period comeback, with Kopitar scoring his seventh career hat trick. He tied the game with an even-strength marker right at the start of the period, hit a power-play goal with 1:38 remaining in regulation, and capped things off with an empty-netter. Kopitar became the seventh player in NHL history to open a campaign with a natural hat trick. The Kings captain has been close to reaching the 30-goal plateau a couple of times in recent seasons and might finally do it in 2024-25, judging by his goal-scoring form in the first game. He should be good for 40-plus assists as well.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

11 months agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar had a big performance in Game 2 against the Oilers on Wednesday, scoring the game-winning goal and bagging two assists in a 5-4 overtime victory. Playing in his 94th Stanley Cup Playoffs game, which ties a franchise record, Kopitar set up a pair of Adrian Kempe goals in the first period and popped up with the game-winner 2:07 into overtime. At 36 years and 244 days, Kopitar became the oldest player in Kings history with an overtime goal in the playoffs. Wednesday's prolific outing came after Edmonton had nullified Kopitar in Game 1.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

12 months agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar had a fourth consecutive multi-point game on Monday versus Vancouver, tying the longest such streak of his career. The Kings captain did the damage this time with a goal and an assist, helping the team get a crucial 3-2 win. Kopitar has had four goals and five assists during his streak and boasts 64 points (24 goals, 40 assists) in total across 71 games. He will be the first King since Alex Frolov in 2006-07 with a five-game multi-point streak if Kopitar can grab at least a pair of points again in Thursday's big matchup against Edmonton.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
