Anze Kopitar Scores Two In Kings’ Win
5 years agoThe Los Angeles Kings shocked the Vegas Golden Knights early and never looked back on Sunday night. The club scored the first three goals of the game en route to a 4-1 victory. Anze Kopitar scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season. He’s now scored at least 20 goals in three straight seasons. Overall, he has 59 points in 66 games. Alex Iafallo had a goal and an assist to give him 40 points on the year. He has eight points over his past 10 games. Drew Doughty added two helpers in the contest and now has 32 points on the season. Calvin Petersen was a rock in net. He stopped 42 of 43 shots, including five from Shea Theodore. The Vegas’ defenseman scored the only goal in the loss. He has five points in his last six games. The Kings managed just 17 shots on net but Marc-Andre Fleury stopped only 13 pucks. It was another uneven performance for the veteran netminder, who was coming off a 29-save shutout.

Later in the third period, Kopitar would extend the Los Angeles lead on a wrist shot. The veteran center is now riding a three-game point streak. Anze Kopitar Hits Seventh Career Hat Trick
5 months agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar produced a game-winning performance in Thursday's season opener against Buffalo, scoring all three goals in a 3-1 win. The Kings pulled off a third-period comeback, with Kopitar scoring his seventh career hat trick. He tied the game with an even-strength marker right at the start of the period, hit a power-play goal with 1:38 remaining in regulation, and capped things off with an empty-netter. Kopitar became the seventh player in NHL history to open a campaign with a natural hat trick. The Kings captain has been close to reaching the 30-goal plateau a couple of times in recent seasons and might finally do it in 2024-25, judging by his goal-scoring form in the first game. He should be good for 40-plus assists as well.
