Montreal Canadiens goaltender Antti Niemi stopped 36 shots in a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. With the win, the 34-year-old veteran is now 3-0-3 in his last six games, last losing in regulation on Feb. 14. Carey Price, Montreal’s No. 1 goaltender, has been out of action since Feb. 20 with a concussion. In Price’s absence, Niemi and goaltender Charlie Lindgren have been splitting starts for the Canadiens, with Niemi (3-0-3) faring better than Lindgren (1-3-1) since Price went down. After the win, Niemi owns a 5-6-4 record with a 3.30 goals-against average and .909 save percentage this season. It would not be surprising if Niemi managed to steal more starts from Lindgren if he continues to outperform him. If that does end up happening, Niemi could be a viable option for any fantasy team in need of a starting goalie. Montreal will next take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.--Alex McKenzie
