Antonio Senzatela Nearing Live Batting Practice
4 months agoColorado Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Friday and is nearing his first live batting practice session. The Rockies aren't trying to rush Senzatela back into their starting rotation as he recovers from Tommy John surgery that he had a year ago, but there's no denying that the 29-year-old is getting closer to making his return to the big leagues in the second half of 2024. At best, he could become a starting option for fantasy managers in NL-only leagues down the stretch, but fantasy managers in mixed formats can probably find safer options. The Venezuelan hurler has been extremely mediocre in his seven seasons in the big leagues after debuting in 2017, posting a 4.87 ERA (4.41 FIP) and 1.44 WHIP with a well below-average 15.3% strikeout rate in 679 2/3 innings over 145 outings (119 starts) for the Rockies.
