6 years agoFree-agent tight end Antonio Gates may only want to play with his old team, the Los Angeles Chargers, according to former running back LaDainian Tomlinson. “I believe the only place Antonio wants to play is the Chargers,” Tomlinson said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I think he has the mind frame of ‘if I go play its gonna be for the Chargers; if it’s not the Chargers, then I’m good; I won’t play.” The future Hall of Fame tight end was a shell of his former self the last few seasons with the Bolts and probably wouldn't play over 50 percent of the offensive snaps, but he's a proven red-zone presence and has chemistry with quarterback Philip Rivers. That would help make up for the loss of Hunter Henry (knee) for the 2018 season. Current starter Virgil Green has just 71 catches for 807 yards and four touchdowns in seven seasons.
