Anthony Volpe Hits First Career Grand Slam
2 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe launched his first career grand slam in Wednesday's 11-3 win over the Oakland A's. Volpe went 1-for-5 at the plate and increased his home run total to four on the season. The 22-year-old has had a rough stretch at the plate and is slashing .217/.266/.383 over the past 15 games. Although, his biggest contributions have been in the basepath and at shortstop. He has compiled 11 stolen bases and owns a 1.4 defensive WAR. Volpe is one of the most revered prospects in baseball and is expected to be the face of Yankees baseball in the foreseeable future. It's still quite early in his career, but the Yanks are hoping to see more consistency at the plate from the New York native.
