Anthony Volpe (shoulder) is back at shortstop and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander
Nick Pivetta in the Bronx. Volpe dove for a ball in the hole on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays and felt a pop in his left shoulder. He stayed down on the ground before being looked at by a trainer, but he eventually remained in the game. An MRI exam and X-rays showed no structural damage. The Yankees held the 24-year-old out as a precaution on Sunday, but he's back in there to begin the week against the Padres. While likely being less than 100 percent on Monday against a pitcher that has been pretty dominant early this year, fantasy managers may want to fade Volpe in this one. He enters Monday's game hitting .233/.326/.442 with five homers, 19 RBI, 16 runs and four steals in 120 at-bats.

Anthony Volpe (shoulder) is not in Sunday's lineup when the Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays. Volpe suffered a shoulder injury during Saturday's contest but remained in the game. However, after the contest, the shortstop underwent X-rays, which came back negative. Still, the Yankees will opt to give him the day to rest. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status leading up to their next game on Monday against the San Diego Padres. Instead,
Oswald Peraza will be covering shortstop on Sunday and bat in the nine-hole. Volpe has held a solid .233/.326/.442 with 10 doubles, five home runs, and four stolen bases. Peraza is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as he enters this contest holding a modest .206 AVG.

Anthony Volpe (shoulder) said that he felt a "pop" in his shoulder when he attempted to make a diving play on a grounder between third and short in the eighth inning of Saturday's contest. However, after trainers took a look at him, the 24-year-old remained in the game. Still, X-rays were taken at the stadium, which came back clean, but the team will see how he feels Sunday, and there's a chance the former first-rounder will undergo an MRI. Volpe is slashing .239/.333/.453 on the year with a .346 wOBA and a 126 wRC+, but an 0-for-3 day at the plate on Saturday ended a seven-game hit streak. Fantasy managers will want to monitor to see if the right-handed hitter is in the lineup on Sunday and may want to have a backup plan in place, as he may still get a day of rest even if he doesn't miss time long-term.

Anthony Volpe went 2-for-4 with two singles in his team's 5-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yanks and Blue Jays were part of a doubleheader on Sunday, and the 24-year-old picked up two hits in each, though all of his damage came in the first game. Volpe was excellent in the early outing, jacking his fifth homer of 2025, while adding a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. He was also caught stealing in the second game. After the four knocks, he's still batting an underwhelming .228 on the season, though his batted ball metrics look better than they did in 2024. The New Jersey native is sporting a modest boost to his average exit velocity and has already recorded the hardest-hit ball of his career (110.5 MPH). He's also upped his walk rate from a year ago into the double-digits (11.1%).
