Anthony Mantha Scores 10th Goal of Season in Win
5 years agoDetroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha scored an empty-net goal late in Detroit's Friday night win over Boston. Mantha also picked up a power-play assist earlier in the contest. Mantha is now one of only 10 players to score at least 10 goals this season and has registered the third-most shots on net in the league after Friday night. Part of Mantha's success this season is due to the highest power-play points per game rate (0.28) and shooting percentage (14.1 percent) of his career. He is also scoring at the highest goals per game rate of his career and is on track to score more than 40 goals for the first time in his career. That being said, Mantha has yet to break the 30 goal plateau in his career and has an elevated shooting percentage compared to his career average (12.8 percent), suggesting that regression is coming for the big-bodied winger at some point.
