Anthony Bass Takes The Loss On Sunday
4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Anthony Bass took the loss in Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, falling to 1-3. Bass was inexplicably brought in to pitch the 10th inning, the latest of 2020 Manager of the Year Don Mattingly's head scratching bullpen decisions. Plenty of other Marlins relievers were available and rested. Bass ended up striking out two and because the run he allowed was the "placed runner" he did not have to add an earned run to his line despite pitching badly. He has a 5.40 ERA and has no business pitching in high leverage situations, but will continue to pitch in high leverage situations because of the aforementioned Don Mattingly.
