4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Anthony Bass pitched a perfect ninth inning in a 9-0 win over the Houston Astros in Grapefruit League play. Bass struck out two and got a fly out in his inning of work. He's lowered his spring ERA to 2.16 and despite no official announcement from manager Don Mattingly just yet, it's safe to say that Bass will get the first shot at the closer's role once the season begins. He should be solid enough to keep the role, but the Marlins do have several other talented relievers in the bullpen, so if Bass struggles it may not be long until he gets replaced. He's worth drafting in mixed leagues as a late round selection.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
