Anthony Banda Solid Tuesday Versus Kansas City
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Anthony Banda pitched a solid game Tuesday versus the Royals. He went five innings, allowing three runs and was in line for a victory until the bullpen lost the lead. He was a key part of the deal with Arizona that sent Steven Souza out of town. He pitched eight games in 2017 for the Diamondbacks with four starts and an ERA of 5.96. However, he has impressed coaches in the Rays organization. He also drew praise for how his stuff looked Tuesday. His fastball was in the mid-90s while his offspeed pitches looked like they could be effective going forward. It sounds like he will stay with the team, but there has been no guarantee he will be the starter on Sunday, which would be the next time this spot in the rotation would come up. He does have some potential upside going forward, especially in long-term formats.
