Anthony Alford, Luis Oviedo Rehabbing In Minors
3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Anthony Alford (wrist) was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on April 16 with Single-A Bradenton, and medical director Todd Tomczyk said on April 13 that Alford had resumed all baseball hitting activities with minimal to no symptoms. Relief pitcher Luis Oviedo (ankle), meanwhile, will move from Bradenton to Double-A Altoona to continue his rehab assignment. Oviedo didn't give up a run over 2 1/3 innings at Bradenton, but he did walk three batters and hit another. Alford began the year on the injured list, but he could join the Pirates this week as a platoon outfielder. Oviedo sprained his right ankle in spring training, but he, too, could rejoin Pittsburgh sometime this week.
