Ankle Injury Will Limit Jamaal Williams in Practice
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said that running back Jamaal Williams (ankle) is still banged up and will be limited in practice. Williams injured his ankle in a preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. There have not been many specific details about the injury, but there does not appear to be any concern that it will inhibit Williams ability to play in the regular season. Williams is slated to be Green Bay’s starting running back. He will lose some passing down work to running back Ty Montgomery, but he doesn’t have any competition until Week 3 when running back Aaron Jones returns from a suspension. Jones is currently nursing a hamstring injury that has prevented him from participating much in training camp. Williams is a dependable runner who will provide useful production early in the year and probably the whole of the season.
