Anibal Sanchez Makes Opening Day Roster
3 years agoThe Washington Nationals have purchased the contract of veteran starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez. He will be part of the team's Opening Day roster and will likely be part of the starting rotation. The 38-year-old signed a minor league deal with the team in March. He had a dreadful spring as he allowed 12 hits, five walks and 10 earned runs over 6.1 innings. However, the Nationals have an extremely thin starting rotation right now, so Sanchez fills a massive need. In a corresponding move, the team optioned fellow pitcher Hunter Harvey to Triple-A.
