Angels Won't Trade Shohei Ohtani This Winter
Shohei Ohtani this winter. There has been plenty of speculation that the Angels will need to trade Ohtani before he's eligible to hit the open market after the 2023 season. But it's a complicated matter, especially with owner Arte Moreno planning to eventually sell the team. It looks like Ohtani will start next season with the Angels, but if they fall out of contention again, Ohtani will be the most coveted trade piece in baseball before the deadline. If not for Aaron Judge's record-setting season with the Yankees in 2022, it's likely that Ohtani would have won his second American League MVP. He hit .273 with 34 homers, 95 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 157 games while also going 15-9 on the mound with a career-low 2.33 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and a career-high 219 K's over 28 starts.

Shohei Ohtani Smacks Three Extra-Base Hits
Shohei Ohtani stayed hot on Friday, going 3-for-6 with a homer and two doubles in a 14-11 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ohtani scored in the first frame, drove in one in the second, and then smashed a go-ahead three-run bomb in the ninth. The three-time MVP has been on fire lately, going 20-for-46 with six homers, 12 RBI, and five steals since April 26. That brings his season-long numbers up to a .304 AVG, 43 runs, 12 homers, 20 RBI, and 10 steals. Those who were worried about Ohtani in late April probably feel a little silly now, as he is once again performing like one of the best players in baseball, both in real life and in fantasy.

Shohei Ohtani Hits Home Run No. 8
Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk during their victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday evening. Ohtani would launch his eighth home run of the campaign in the third inning off Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach. The reigning NL MVP has begun to see his offensive production increase over the past week. In his last seven games, the 30-year-old has posted an impressive .407/.529/.889 slash line with three doubles, two triples, two long balls, and four stolen bases. Prior to this stretch, Ohtani held a .260/.355/.479 through his first 24 games of the season. Ohtani has generated an elite .451 xwOBA, which suggests he should continue to see his offensive production climb throughout the summer. He will look to continue this impressive stretch on Sunday against Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder.
