Angels Place Yoan Moncada On Injured List With Thumb Sprain
7 days agoThe Los Angeles Angels placed third baseman Yoan Moncada (thumb) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a right-thumb sprain and recalled infielder J.D. Davis from the minors in a corresponding move, according to the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher. Left-hander Jack Dashwood was designated for assignment to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Davis. Moncada initially injured his thumb in spring training before aggravating it on a swing last Friday night. The 29-year-old returned to the lineup on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays but suffered another setback and will now miss at least another 10 days. The fact that his thumb injury has lingered probably means it won't be a minimum stay on the IL. Luis Rengifo is starting at third for Thursday's series finale against Tampa and should see most of the playing time there moving forward. Moncada should be on the waiver wire in most mixed fantasy leagues.
