Andrew Painter Strikes Out Three In Season Debut
57 mins agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter tossed 1 1/3 innings in his season debut with Low-A on Friday evening. In this brief outing, Painter allowed two hits and two runs. He served up one walk and struck out three. Painter was kept sidelined during spring training even though he was not dealing with an injury. Painter underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2023 and has not appeared in a professional game since the 2022 season. Painter was able to pitch briefly in the Arizona Fall League and performed quite well, holding a 2.30 ERA with 18 punchouts across 15 2/3 innings. The team has suggested the budding ace could play a role in the major-league bullpen during the second half of the campaign. He is a name to monitor, as the Phillies may move him up to High-A in the coming weeks.
