Andrew Miller Earns a Save With a Perfect Ninth Inning
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Andrew Miller earned his third save of the season on Tuesday, tossing a perfect ninth inning to lock down a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Closer Carlos Martinez had been used a lot in the last few games, so he had the day off. Still, the Cardinals needed someone to save the game, and Miller answered the call. He threw 19 pitches (12 strikes) in his 1-2-3 inning.
