Andrew Kittredge Notches Sixth Save
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Andrew Kittredge struck out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save during Friday's 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. He entered the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. The 31-year-old allowed one base runner but made quick work of the Twins by retiring three batters on nine pitches on route to his sixth save. Kittredge has now converted four straight saves over his last four appearances. The Rays right-hander has yet to allow a run and owns a 10:0 K: BB during that span. He holds a microscopic 1.29 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 71:14 K: BB over 63 innings in 2021. Kittredge has been dominant as the Rays closer recently and should continue to handle ninth-inning duties the rest of the season.
