Andrew Chafin Records Third Save
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks reliever Andrew Chafin recorded his third save in Monday's 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Chafin entered the ninth inning with a three-run cushion and needed 12 pitches to strike out the side. Only Drey Jameson and Scott McGough have recorded at least one save, aside from Chafin. With Mark Melancon and Joe Mantiply on the injured list, Chafin has played a vital role as the interim closer. If his efficient performance continues, he could be a candidate to become the full-time closer once the two relievers return. The 32-year-old is perfect through seven innings of work on the season and owns a 0.57 WHIP with three saves. He possesses a 40% K rate and a 10% walk rate. Fantasy managers should pick him up immediately if he is still on the market.
