Andrew Chafin Collects Third Save Monday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers reliever Andrew Chafin registered his third save of the season on Monday. With closer Gregory Soto having pitched in each of the last two games, Chafin was brought on to protect a one-run lead in Seattle in the ninth inning. The veteran allowed a two-out single and a stolen base by Sam Haggerty but struck out Carlos Santana to end the game. The left-hander also struck out Dylan Moore earlier in the inning. For the season, Chafin has now pitched to a 2.84 ERA, a 3.04 FIP, 66 strikeouts, and 18 walks in 57 innings of work. He's also collected 19 holds to go along with the aforementioned three saves.
