Andres Munoz Takes Second Consecutive Loss Tuesday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners closer Andres Munoz was charged with his seventh loss of the season in Tuesday's 7-6 game against the Reds. Munoz came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning with the game tied 6-6. He allowed a leadoff single to Elly De La Cruz, who stole second before scoring the winning run on a walk-off single. Munoz has pitched well overall this season, converting 11 of 14 save opportunities with a 2.95 ERA, a 12.48 K/9 rate, and a 4.31 BB/9 rate. While he does tend to put too many runners on for free, Munoz should continue to see opportunities for the Mariners down the stretch. It is worth noting that Matt Brash may eat into those opportunities should Munoz continue to falter.
