Andres Munoz Picks Up His 11th Save On Wednesday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Andres Munoz earned the save on Wednesday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning to go along with one strikeout in a 5-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. The M's clawed back to gain a narrow one-run lead in the seventh inning and Matt Brash did his thing in the eighth to secure that lead. It was then up to Munoz to shut the door on the A's in the ninth and he got the job done. He got Shea Langeliers to ground out to start things off before punching out Lawrence Butler and getting Nick Allen to fly out to end the contest. Munoz has looked a bit shaky at times since assuming the closer role for Seattle but he's now converted three chances in a row and six-of-seven since August 18. The 24-year-old flamethrower owns a 2.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 54:18 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings (40 appearances) on the year.
