Andres Munoz Blows Save Monday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Andres Munoz blew his first save of the season in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Twins. Munoz entered the game to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a groundout, allowed back-to-back doubles to tie the game, got the second out on a strikeout, allowed an intentional walk, and got the final out on another strikeout. Despite this outing, the 24-year-old has pitched well overall this season, posting a 2.95 ERA with a 13.50 K/9 rate. However, teammate Paul Sewald has seen the vast majority of save opportunities this season. While Munoz is a great pitcher, his fantasy value will remain limited unless he can see routine high-leverage situations.
