Andres Gimenez Sitting Against Lefty
4 months agoCleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez will take a seat on Monday for the series opener against the visiting Detroit Tigers with tough left-hander Tarik Skubal on the mound. In addition to Gimenez, the Guardians are resting infielder Daniel Schneemann, catcher Bo Naylor and outfielder Will Brennan. Tyler Freeman is starting at the keystone and batting seventh, Brayan Rocchio is at short and hitting eighth, Austin Hedges is doing the catching and batting ninth, and Angel Martinez draws into the lineup in center field while hitting in the two-hole against Skubal. Gimenez is hitting .245 (26-for-106) with only one of his five home runs on the season coming against southpaws. Overall in 2024, he's slashing .247/.300/.331 with a below-average .631 OPS, five homers, 45 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 92 games played for Cleveland.
