Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was pulled after the second period on Tuesday night, allowing six goals on 29 shots to the Ottawa Senators. Lightning backup goaltender Peter Budaj made a relief appearance for the third period, but Vasilevskiy was saddled with the 7-4 loss. Ottawa has been offensively surprising lately, scoring 12 goals in their last two games, and came out firing on all cylinders against the Bolts. Vasilevskiy has now started 56 games this season, a new career high for the 23-year-old, up from his previous high of 47 last season. There is certainly a question as to whether or not the young Russian can handle the workload for the Lightning through the end of the season, as this is his first year being the clear No. 1. With Tampa maintaining a firm grasp on first place in the Atlantic division and a playoff run looming, expect Budaj to receive more playing time so that Vasilevskiy can rest before the postseason begins.--Alex McKenzie
