Andrei Vasilevskiy Has Historic Performance In Return From Injury
6 years agoTampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who missed a month with a broken foot, looked spectacular in his return from injury on Thursday, finishing a 4-1 win over Toronto with a career-high 48 saves. He also tied Ben Bishop for the franchise record. Vasilevskiy was beaten early on by Kasperi Kapanen, but the Russian ended up making 46 consecutive saves following Toronto's only goal. The Bolts managed only 21 shots on goal, but they make sure that Vasilevskiy's efforts wouldn't be in vain with a three-goal second period. Nikita Kucherov, Alex Killorn, and Tyler Johnson joined Anthony Cirelli among goal-scorers. Cirelli scored a short-handed goal while Kucherov picked up the game-winner on a power play.
