Andreas Athanasiou on the Move to Edmonton
5 years agoForward Andreas Athanasiou has been traded to Edmonton along with Ryan Kuffner in exchange for two second-round picks and center Sam Gagner. In the second deadline deal between Detroit and Edmonton, the Oilers pick up a speedy winger to presumably staple to Connor McDavid's line. One year removed from breaking the 30-goal plateau, Athanasiou has struggled this season, putting up only 10 goals and 24 points in 46 games. That half of his goals this season have come in February likely salvaged his trade value. The latest attempt to give McDavid a complementary piece brings plenty of speed to Edmonton and could be one of the most impactful moves for fantasy value of this deadline. Athanasiou should be a priority add in leagues where he is available.
