Ameer Abdullah On The Bubble
6 years agoDetroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah has done enough this preseason to prove he belongs on the Lions 53-man roster, but there is still a chance he gets cut or traded, according to MLive.com's Kyle Meinke. Abdullah has started 22 games since entering the league in 2015, and ball security has been a major issue in his game. This preseason, he has performed admirably despite fumbling twice in the second preseason game -- one on a handoff and the other fielding a kickoff. He is averaging 4.1 yards per carry and has scored one of the team's three touchdowns on the ground. Trade rumors involving Abdullah were swirling to open camp but have since fizzled out a bit. Barring a destruction in the team's fourth preseason game Thursday, he should make the roster or he could still be traded. With such a cloudy outlook, stay away from Abdullah until his situation is more clear. Whether on the Lions or another team, he could become a waiver pickup in the case of an injury during the season.
