Ameer Abdullah Makes 53-Man Roster
6 years agoDetroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah earned the team’s fourth running back spot with a solid preseason. Abdullah had been the subject of trade talks for a majority of training camp but had performed well in three exhibition games, rushing for 53 yards and a score. While he will be stuck behind Kerryon Johnson, LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick, Abdullah has plenty of experience in the league and the coaching staff seems confident that he has fixed his ball-security issues. If the Lions are ever in a pinch, he could see time, but for now he is nothing more than a depth piece and return man.
