Amed Rosario Sits Again On Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario did not start again on Wednesday and has now been benched in five of the Mets' last six games. Andres Gimenez started at shortstop on Wednesday against the Orioles. Gimenez appears to have taken over the starting shortstop role from Rosario. Rosario has slashed just .223/.243/.339 with three homers and 13 RBI through his first 33 games this season and has yet to steal a base. With the defensively superior Gimenez seemingly having taken over the starting role at short, and with only 16 games left to play in the season, Rosario is no longer a viable fantasy option in redraft formats. Dynasty managers, however, should remain patient with Rosario since the Mets will need to make a move or two this offseason in order to clear a potential log jam at short that includes Gimenez, Rosario and, eventually, top prospect Ronny Mauricio. Accordingly, Rosario could be moved in an offseason trade by the Mets and potentially find himself in a better playing time situation in 2021.
