5 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Alonzo Russell was a camp standout during Wednesday's practice. Russell brought in a long completion to start the two-minute drill from quarterback Daniel Jones. Finishing the drill, the two got it done again with the winning touchdown pass. Wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert commented on Russell's performance, stating "He's one of the guys I am talking about champing at the bit getting these opportunities." Tolbert also commented, "A role that younger players have to play in order to be active on the roster and active on game day, it's be a special teams guy." As the looming battle at the quarterback position begins to ramp up in New York and with the suspension of wide receiver Golden Tate, it is looking as though Russell will be a key factor moving forward.--addison_phillips
