Alexis Diaz Secures First Career Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds pitcher Alexis Diaz allowed two walks while striking out three across a scoreless inning to earn the save during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians. He entered the 10th inning to protect a 5-4 lead. The 25-year-old struck out the two first batters he faced. Diaz loaded the bases by walking the next three hitters but fanned Jose Ramirez to escape the jam and end the game. He owns a 0.52 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings. Diaz has emerged as a potential closer for the Reds and will see more save chances while Lucas Sims (back) is sidelined. Fantasy managers searching for saves should add Diaz in all league formats.
