Alexis Diaz Collects 15th Save
1 year agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Alexis Diaz was asked to shut the door with a one-run lead versus the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. The right-hander had little issues in this one as he retired all three batters to record his 15th save of the season. It's worth noting that Diaz needed to throw 20 pitches in this game, so he might not be available on Monday. If that's the case, Lucas Sims or Buck Farmer could be asked to close down the game. Diaz now holds a 1.71 ERA, 0.84 WHIP with 48/12 K/BB ratio across 26.3 innings of work this season. He continues to be one of the best closers in baseball and hasn't blown a game yet this season.
