Alexandar Georgiev Posts Third Career Shutout
5 years agoNew York Rangers goaltender Alexandar Georgiev stopped all 33 shots in Saturday's 4-0 win over New Jersey, posting his first shutout of the season and the third of his career. The young Russian had given up five goals in back-to-back appearances, so this will be a nice confidence-booster for him. Georgiev has a decent 6-4-1 record in 11 outings this season, however, he's allowing over three goals per game (3.08) and his .912 save percentage clearly has some room for improvement. Henrik Lundqvist, who has won seven of 16 starts this season, remains the No. 1 option in New York, but Georgiev has seen regular action between the pipes this season and he should get at least one start next week with the team having a back-to-back set.
