7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Alex Wood threw eight excellent innings on Friday night, giving up only one hit and striking out seven. He walked no batters. Normally such an outing would guarantee a win, but Giants starter Johnny Cueto matched Wood, giving up only one hit himself in seven innings. The game marked the first time that Wood pitched solely out of the stretch, a move designed to keep him fresh throughout the season and avoid the velocity drop that marked the second half of his 2017 campaign. Wood looks to be a solid SP2/3 for now and is only 27. He may still get better.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
