Alex Wood Takes Loss In Short Start Saturday
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood fell to 1-5 on the season in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Braves. The lefty surrendered four runs (just two earned) on nine hits and no walks with six strikeouts in four 2/3 innings. This was Wood's second straight start of fewer than five innings, and manager Dave Roberts said that he has been dealing with hamstring and adductor discomfort, per MLB.com's Ken Gurnick. Wood has been far from the fantasy stud he was last season and has posted a career-high 4.43 ERA in 69 innings pitched, although his 3.31 FIP suggests that positive regression could be on the way. Roberts said that Wood is still scheduled to make his next start, but fantasy owners should follow his situation in the coming days.
