Alex Verdugo Sitting Again Tuesday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves. Verdugo also sat out of Sunday's series finale against the New York Mets, and the team had an off day on Monday. It's a bit concerning that Verdugo isn't back in the lineup, especially against Braves right-hander Charlie Morton, but perhaps the Red Sox are just giving him extra mental rest after going hitless in 16 plate appearances with six strikeouts over his last four games played. In the month of July, the 27-year-old left-hander is batting just .127 (7-for-55) with two home runs, a double, seven RBI, one stolen base and five runs scored in 15 games. There's a chance Verdugo could be injured, so stay tuned for more information on his status heading into Wednesday's game.
