Alex Verdugo Has Progressed Slowly Due To Shutdown
5 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke said that outfielder Alex Verdugo (back) hasn't progressed as quickly as the team had hoped because of the coronavirus shutdown. Verdugo has been swinging, but it has been difficult for him to get in other baseball activities with baseball at a standstill. Despite the slow progression, Verdugo has plenty of time to recover from a stress fracture that he suffered last year since we don't even know if or when the 2020 season will begin. The former Dodger came to Boston in the blockbuster deal involving Mookie Betts over the winter. Verdugo's redraft value actually is helped by the fact that the season has been delayed. He's currently going around pick No. 228, which could be excellent value if he's healthy as an everyday player for the Sox. The youngster hit .294/.342/.475 last year in LA with 12 home runs in 106 games.
