Alex Tanney Hangs Up His Cleats
4 years agoNew York Giants quarterback Alex Tanney, who threw just 15 passes in two games over his nine-year NFL career, is retiring from the NFL on Tuesday. The 33-year-old re-signed on Jan. 4 and had spent most of the last three seasons as a backup to Eli Manning and Daniel Jones. He entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012 and also had short stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans (twice), Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts before joining the G-Men in 2018. Tanney replaced Manning in 2019 when he made the final start and appearance of his career. He spent all of the 2020 season on New York's practice squad.
