Alex Reyes Picks Up Another Save On Sunday
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Alex Reyes picked up his 22nd save of the season on Sunday in a 2-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. In typical Reyes fashion, there was trouble on the bases, but he managed to escape with the lead intact. Reyes pitched the ninth inning, allowing two walks and throwing 11 of his 19 pitches for strikes. He's now 24-for-24 in save opportunities to start his career, a new record in Major League Baseball. As outstanding as he's been this season (22 saves in 22 chances, 1.45 ERA), it's always worth mentioning that he's still walking over seven batters per nine innings pitched. So far though, he's getting away with it.
